I'll start with a soccer game from last week and work my way forward. Bae had a make-up soccer game on Tuesday (the game was rained out the previous Saturday), so he suited up and we headed to the soccer field. Bae ran straight out onto the field to "warm up" with his friend, Charlie. The other (whole) team was already there and our team consisted of . . .Bae and Charlie. We waited around another ten minutes or so, and noone else showed. A parent from the other team suggested that one of their players play for our team, but both teams were blue and we thought that may be
He yelled for Brek and he came running. Joey said, "Hey Brek, you wanna play on Bae's team?" Without hesitation, Brek said "Yes, sir." And, with a little salute to daddy, he was off on the field. Bae looked none too thrilled for his little 4 year old brother to get to play on his team, but he kinda shrugged and off they went.

Yes, Brek is playing soccer wearing sandals!

This one is my favorite. It really captures the "brotherly competition" going down!

A couple of minutes into the second quarter, Bae's third teammate showed up and Brek was excused from his duties. He was pretty bummed to have to quit playing, but easily distracted by a bright blue gatorade.
Bae and his teammates got back to business.

When it was over and we were heading to the car, Brek grinned at Joey and said, "Hey daddy, I played with the big boys!" Joey said, "You sure did, buddy! You did awesome!"
As I shoved their soccer gear in the trunk, I thought about how many more years of "playing with the big boys" we had to go. Let's hope they're all as fun as they've been so far!
