Grayson, KY is only about a 30 minute drive, but, of course, it started pouring down rain just as we entered the park. . . .typical. So, we decided to drive on out for awhile and let the rain stop. Well, reduce to a sprinkle at least. So, we drove on into a little town called Sandy Hook. Where we saw this sign:

We pulled into a little shop called Frosty's to grab a drink. The lady inside told Joey that the town tore down Keith Whitley's childhood home to build a new road. I thought that was such a shame. But, she did tell us to stop by the cemetery and see the statue of him. He's actually buried in Tennessee, but the town erected a monument in his memory. Turns out, his mom is still living, and moved to Grayson when they tore the house down.
We snapped a pic of the statue as we drove out of town.

Finally, the rain subsided somewhat and we headed back to the lake. The boys played on the playground for a bit, and we walked down to the dock and finally figured out how to get down to the "beach."

We were the only ones there, as it was a little chilly and sprinkling rain off and on, so we took full advantage of having the beach to ourselves. The boys promptly waded out into the water (which was freezing!). Shelby and Wally soon joined in.

Wally was absolutely hilarious. Bassett Hounds, as a breed, are typically lazy and sluggish dogs. Apparently, someone forgot to tell this to Wally. As soon as I unclipped his leash, he went tearing around like a crazy dog, barking at. . . .nobody!! He ran and ran and ran until he was so out of breath, we thought he would pass out!
As we were leaving, the boys climbed up on this fallen tree.

About 3 seconds after I snapped this picture of Bae, he slipped and raked his arm and neck down the side as he fell. Ahhhh, life with boys!

By this time, it was almost seven o'clock, so we decided to swing by one of our favorite restaurants on the way home. Dock's Pizza is just outside of Louisa, KY and makes the best pizza you've ever tasted. Hands down!! So, the boys filled up on spaghetti while Joey and I tackled a "trucker's special." (I just chuckled picturing myself as a trucker!) As we were finishing up, Dock, came over and said, "Hey, I'm gonna throw in a dessert pizza for you guys." Dock not only owns the place, he's also a yardmaster for CSX, so he and Joey know alot of the same people. They brought out the cinnamon and sugar concoction and though I said after my last piece of pizza that I couldn't eat another bite, I was able to down some dessert after all! We boxed up the rest and as we were leaving Dock told the boys that he gave us that pizza 'cause cinnamon makes you sleepy and he knew they needed to rest. Wink, wink.
Brek did fall asleep on the way home, but Bae held out! We all trudged up the stairs and fell into bed and quickly asleep.
The next morning, Brek said, "Hey mama, last night, that cimmanon worked. It made me go fast asleep!" Maybe I should stock up on some cinnamon!

(Couldn't resist this photo of Shelby!)
